Christie Architecture seeks candidates for an Intern Architect position to support the design and delivery of high-end residential projects under the direction of the principals at our SW Portland, Oregon studio.
Expected role
The Intern Architect will provide key project support across all phases, working directly with the principals on tasks such as articulating design elements, documenting existing conditions, preparing construction documents and presentations, participating in site visits, developing and rendering 3D models, and assisting with marketing efforts.
This role offers exposure to multiple projects at various stages, with direct mentorship from licensed architects. Candidates actively pursuing licensure through NCARB AXP can earn experience hours toward registration.
Required skills & experience
- Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in architecture, from schematic design through construction administration.
- Prior residential architecture experience.
- Professional degree in architecture from an accredited university.
- Proficiency in BIM document production; Archicad preferred (Revit experience acceptable—training provided).
- Solid understanding of architectural drawing sets and the design/delivery process.
- Competence in AutoCAD, Rhino, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Versatility and strong work ethic; self-motivated and proactive.
- Clear communication skills, positive attitude, and comfort taking direction.
- Demonstrated passion for refined residential design and precision detailing.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; enjoys process and follow-through.
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks across multiple projects.
- Works effectively and collaboratively in a small-studio environment.
Schedule
Part-time to start, with opportunity for full-time based on performance and experience.
Compensation
Hourly, commensurate with experience.
Location
On site at our SW Portland studio.
